Is the new black?

I notice so many people these days are quite open about dabbling in being a Dom / sub or es and kinks in general - so what do you think? Are people just more honest because it's less taboo, or are they on the rise in popularity? Have you ever tried anything out of the norm? What are your thoughts? :-)
