Is Scott Pilgrim vs. the World a good movie to see on a first date?

This guy and I did the whole "i like you" "ditto!" exchange and i was going to go see Scott Pilgrim with him as friends before that exchange ever happened, but then something came up and we couldn't see it. Now we want to see it for this week but I've heard from a friend that it might be awkward in some parts. Is she right?? Because I REALLY like this guy, its ridiculous. And please, no snide remarks. Plus any other date ideas? I only have a permit so we'd have to have a parent to drop us off :(
