I have an undergrad degree and masters in folklore. There are a few schools that over undergrad courses in folklore and 8 universities that offer graduate degrees in folklore. This sort of thing you mentioned is not the only thing covered in these degrees but it is one of them. There is no such thing as a degree in paranormal, occult, or supernatural studies. BUT when I did folklore, i took cles in mythology, and urban legends. Cryptozoology is another related field. My senior project was on the ghost legends of a particular haunted hotel. There is no degree that actually studies ghosts or the paranormal as it applies to possibly existing, but there are degrees in folklore that would allow you to study ghost stories, urban legends, and supernatural legends.

My outdoor cat has been missing for about 3.5 weeks now.?

Its very unusual as he never strays out of our yard. Every time I come home he greets me on the front porch. I have placed fliers on telephone poles, grocery stores, and other stores in the area, as well as placed fliers in my entire neighborhood's mailboxes. I also put fliers at all the local vets and the animal shelter. 3 people have claimed to have seen my cat in the same neighborhood about half a mile from my house. We set up a cat rescue trap in one person's yard and left it there for 3 days, but nothing. :( I'm looking for advice on what else I can do to try and get my kitty to come home. I have visited the area everyday where people have claimed to have seen him and have called him, shook his food in a can, and searched the woods for him..but nothing. I feel so helpless and I'm not sure if he's lost or if he doesn't want to be found. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hair falling out in clumps?

I always shed hair a lot, I have very thick curly hair and when after having a shower or whilst straightening it, a few strands used to fall out. However, in the past fortnight I have begun to lose clumps of my hair. I lose a crazy amount of hair in the shower, and when I straighten ir/tie it up/brush it etc clumps of it come out. I went to look at a condo that was being showed by a real estate agent. I made an offer and a few days later I was told they accepted the offer. The RE guy told me to get working on my mortgage and finding an attorney. A week and a half later after Ive got the ball rolling and paid money for my mortgage app he tells me someone made a higher offer on the apt. I was upset and shoked as I thought they were not showing the apt anymore since they accepted my offer. A few days later he calls to tell me the second offer fell through and Im next in line again. At the same time he mentions needing to fax me a dual agency disclousure form he wants me to sign.The way it looks to me is he should have given me this form the day I looked at the apt or atleast the day I made my offer. He is totally stressing this form now as I have not signed and sent back. He said he will get in trouble if the state asks for it. I still just dont understand why I need to sign this form now. Wow. I have had all that and yes I think you do suffer from some form of anxiety. It does worsen and I have been in the same boat as you. I dont want my parents to know and I dont even want my GP to but im asking to go see a therapist or psychologist because I have a 'phobia' to get over and have a few questions, thats what ive said. Hasnt happened yet the appointment is this week but anyway back to you, yeah i know exactly how you feel and if its worsening you need to do something about it before it becomes too much and there may not even be a way back. There is a way to fix it now of course but these things you cant let fester for ever. Trust me I know its embarresing but sometimes youve just got to push past that and think ''No. The Dr is there to help me, theyve seen idiots before and theyve seen intelligent people with actual problems, i want to help myself and there isnt anything wrong in that''. It would be great if you could find the courage to do that, ive been searching online for months and really it isnt a free world, there isnt a great deal of help on here and anyway its best to talk to someone face to face. If its effecting your life in a negative way its best to sort it now so you can get a load of your shoulders, be on the road to recovery and live a great, stress free life. I am A little confused?

I have been reading a lot of books and websites, and I know it is not fair to compare pregnancies with a stranger because every woman is different. I went into the ER on monday for some lower abdominal pain and I had a u/s and levels checked. According to my Lmp I should be 7 weeks, according to u/s I was 5 weeks and 2 days. I had no bleeding or spotting, but I had a subchorionic hemorrhage with my last pregnancy that caused a lot of cramping so I just wanted to make sure it was not the same deal this time. My blood was drawn and my levels were checked, ultrasound showed a gest. sac with yolk sack (too early to see I know) that measured 5 weeks and 2 days but no fetal pole. I asked the nurse for my hCG results and she told me 18,075......this makes no sense to me because that number does not at all correlate with a pregnancy age of 5 weeks, unless there are multiples which the u/s tech did not see......What in the hell is really going on???????? I already called the doctor and asked for my results again because maybe she read the number wrong but this is frustrating and confusing as all hell........**sigh**

I think you feel as if your working hard but your not recieving what you think you are truly worth and you become disappointed when you are paid. I think it could also indicate a level of distrust or dishonesty you feel towards the people who are paying you.

Scared I might have cancer in the pelvic region?

I have been worried for a bit about this lump I am feeling in my left pelvic region. It feels hard and long (kinda like a tube)... I recently got two ultrasounds done prescribed by my gynecologist it was it pelvic ultrasound non ob and a transl ultrasound non ob. The results from them came back all normal. I am not sure if on these ultrasounds they would be able to see the lump; i'm not sure if it primarily focuses on the female organs and does not look all around in the pelvic region. My lump is next to my hip-bone... I am getting a Colonoscopy done next Friday because I have also been seeing a GI doctor because I have been having abdominal pain and and I bloated; and the left side seems to stick out just a little bit further than the right... I have also had this persistent sore throat and occasional headaches and frequent gas pains in my chest. I am 22 years old, and I told my family and friends about my fear of it being cancer, but they all say I am crazy and that more than likely it is nothing to worry about... Anyone have any advice on what I should do? or know if this lump im feeling on the left side is nothing (like maybe a muscle or something?)... Thanks in advance :)

you are not cycled yet ... ammonia is way high, i would do a 50% water change ... the only measurements that count are ammonia which should be 0, nitrites which should be 0, and nitrates less than 20 ... and just so you know, test strips are a waste of money ... they are giving you a guesstimate of the water parameters, and not what the parameters actually are ... you can get the pet store to test it for you in a couple of weeks to see if the water is good, i would do two 50% water changes between now and then ... when the pet store checks the water get the numbers and don't let them tell you it is fine ... you might want to consider a proper water testing kit if you are really into the hobby ... or fish stores always do it for free ...

Night sweats + Tingling feet = HIV?

My boyfriend and I have not had ual , in which I have not had ual in almost a year. But, my boyfriend and I have been together since July. No ual , but I have performed oral on him, but he never got off because we were just messing around. *Which I know is still risky, and I'm dumb* The last time we done anything was the last part of September. Well, I thought that I had started getting symptoms of HIV, because of course, everything I looked up on the net all pointed back to HIV. So, I went and had testing done November 17 with the oral rapid test, then had an HIV blood test done on November 22. Both came back negative. Along with other symptoms I've had, I am now having tingling/itching sensations in my feet and plus night sweats, so I think they are night sweats. And, I would appreciate if someone could describe HIV related night sweats to me. The sweats that I've had are around my neck and shoulders, and private/hip area, and sometimes under my , just not as much. With the tingling I've had in my feet/toes, and sometimes in my hands recently, it goes as far up as my ankles. It's a light tingle, but I can still tell it's there. My other question I guess would be, what stage of HIV would you have to be in to have the tingling sensation and/or sweating. And also, my chances of contracting HIV considering the oral, and if I would have tested positive by now? I accidentally put engine oil on my lawnmower and now its smoking what should i do?

Engine oil and lawnmower oil are sometimes different viscocities. This is messy, but take the mower out and take the oil cap off and tip it over into a pan and let all the oil run out. Then put some more oil in it but not too much. If you overfill it, it will damage your motor.

Ok so I have been doing martial arts since I started doing Muay Thai when I was 11. Now I'm 22, I'm fresh out of college, and I am broke!!! Anyway I am getting on my feet and getting my money/work/bills stuff sorted out, but it will be a while until I can train at the holy glowing MMA gym we have here in Hollywood, because its seriously expensive. So I want a Rocky-brand training regiment, but for MMA. Right now I have a membership at a gym so run down (its in an abandoned jail), it make's rocky's impoverished gym look like a 24 hour fitness. But it has the basic weightlifting equipment, bench press, squats, dumbells, barbells, stationary bikes, etc. And they have a serious boxing retinue. After weightlifting-weigh protein? What should I eat?

Im 16, and I've been working out for a little over a year now. I have not found any evidence of spam or the like. I am frightened and I do not know what to do. I immediately changed my pword, just like it told me to. Drain Field needs to be replaced?

My husband and I bought our home about 1 year ago, it is a 3 br 2 bath and is about 1200sq ft. We found out that the couple we bought it from had it listed and permitted as a 2/2 with an office as the septic system was only set of for a 2 bedroom dwelling. The couple told us the septic was pumped about 1 month before closing, well about 5 months ago we noticed a horrible smell anytime while being outside, so we looked and looked and could not figure out the issue. Then our dog was outside and we noticed her digging, we got her away from it, and returned back out to try and figure it out. We called a septic company right away, he came out and stated we should try pumping before anything further. He then came back out and opened the box, and it was the nastiest, smelliest thing I had ever seen. He told us "That this is the worst I think I have ever seen, It does not look like it had been pumped in over 10 years." I mean there were plastic bags, wash clothes, plastic forks, you name it and it was in the tank! I was so embarred, I could not believe what all three of us were seeing. Well, we noticed that it seemed to work...or that's what we thought. The couple that we bought our home from, also owned the home behind ours as well. They sold it about 2 months ago. We seen them outside and having the same thing done, they were going thru the same things as we were. They had been told the very same thing as us. They just had there entire system (field replaced) We called the county inspectors out to try and see if we could finally figure out the problem. The inspector did something with the lines and it worked...Again so we thought. The water stopped puddling up in about 3 weeks and we thought we were in the clear. Then we washed about 3 loads of laundry and the water was in the yard again, and when it rains good the water is there. I called our homeowners and our agent said we are covered, that we needed to file a claim? I have never had to file any type of insurance claim and I have no idea how it works? I was wanting to gather some Information on what replacing the drain field may cost. Any help is very much appreciated and thanks in advance. The coverage that we do carry is $6,000.00 with a $150.00 deductible, I am just unsure if that will be enough to fix our problem? Again thanks so very much!

I do Martial Arts, everyday b4 cl i do an hour of bag work (240 lb. base bag) I can knock over the bag with a reverse punch, suicide sprints, paced jogs, sit-ups with 10 pounds on chest, elevated push-ups, with lunges and squats. all that in a hour for the last 2 weeks. thats b4 i do cles meaning 10 katas (all full power) all the equivalent of 1(+) miles of jogging, sparring and grappling marine special forces; and teaching lower belt cles. Plus I'm on a low-carb diet with my sis because she's getting her stomach stapled; I'm not being as strict; just breakfast and dinner are low-carb. school lunches aren't exactly nutritional. I would recommend driving to Edmonds and taking the Edmonds/ Kingston Ferry and then take 104 to 101. That will take you through most of the prettiest part of the Peninsula and you should miss most of the traffic. If this is your first trip to Washington I'd recommend stopping in Seattle. Then when you get to Edmonds which is just north of Seattle stop in the down town area. There are a number of cute shops and very nice restaurants. The ferry ride is short but very pretty. On a clear day you will get good views of Mt Rainier, Baker, the Olympics and Cascades. Port Townsend is a nice place to visit and has a nice downtown but is a little way off 101. Continue on 101 to Port Angeles. Just out of Port Angeles is Hurricane Ridge (check to make sure it is not closed for the season.) The view is spectacular. You can see the Cascades, Olympics, San Juan Islands, Canada and many more sites from Hurricane Ridge which is at over 5000 feet. Then follow 101 through some of the most beautiful country you will ever see. Be sure and stop at the different beaches along the way. Enjoy your trip and bring your camera. Oh also bring a variety of clothes. It can be warm to very cold and rainy or snowy. The weather changes very quickly on the Olympic.

Will the engine of a standard petrol car freak out if I give it ethanol?

Simply enough, North American vehicles run on petrol that has an octane rating of 91 I think. If I use ethanol, with (according to Wikipedia) 129 octane, will something bad happen to the engine? I've dyed my hair 4 times trying to hide my highlights but it doesn't work! will black hide it?

i had highlights in april and in march i was getting my retouch but my cosmetology instructor messed it up!! she bleached over the old highlights 2 times and said it was ok! (is it really ok to bleach over hair that had already been bleached?) then i had to dye it a light red and cut off the damaged hair then i dyed it with a semi permanent dark mocha brown but it washed off. and recently three weeks ago i dyed it with the CHI permanent dark mocha brown but it did not hide my highlights!!! i know all this dyeing is not good but i just want to hide my highlights. I have a 6 mo old beagle terrier mix going on about 8 lbs. He's been house trained really well for about 2 months. Tonite we took our usual walk and he peed twice between 8:30 and 9:00 and then about 9:15 he peed in the house no warning. Took him out and he peed again about 9:30. Then we were sitting here on the chair and he was sleeping and woke up and started licking his and he had peed I guess in his sleep about 10:15. Took him out again immediately and he peed again outside. He had about 3 to 4 oz. of water when we came in from the walk at 9:00. When he went on the chair I noticed there's no blood and seems clear, no puss or gunk. Now he's sleeping again. Seems to not be in any pain. What do you think?

There are no magic bullets or short cuts to becoming good at martial arts. That is why it takes many years to become a true master. That being said books, videos, ....etc. can only be really useful to fefresh things that you already know. No one has eve successfully taught themselves martial arts. It requires much training and correction under the guidance of a good instructor. Also without a training partner, you can only mimic moves.

Im in grade 12 and have applied to university for mathematical stuff and right now i want to be an actuary. But I am sort of doubting myself because I want to have a job that helps the world out. I want a job that can help people out and make the world somewhat a better place. So i just wanted to know the impact that actuaries have on the world. I dont want to enter a field that is all about the money, even though actuaries work with insurance. I was thinking of becoming an engineer for a while however right now i am taking physics which is brutally killing me. I mean im ping but im not understanding as much as i would like. It is weird because I am doing well in my Calculus, right now i have an 81 avg and my last test I got an 88. And in my adv. functions Im doing great as well, but physics is just hurting me. Which is why I am doubtful about entering engineering. This leads me to my other question which is whether universities take into consideration that physics is hard or not when deciding to accept you or not. Like i know that this will drop my average and am a little scared because i hope to go to a university which has an admission avg. of low 80s (University of Waterloo) for actuarial science. I need help with a sign I am making?

However, overall, investing in the stock market brings significantly higher returns than any other investments, but as you mentioned, there is risk involved. I have been moving around my entire life. I have made many friends along the way and I am fairly happy. I have an average body type and i've decided to do P90X to get in shape over the summer. Tet Possibility Rusty Blade?

How possible is it that I will come down with tet? My quarter rolled down into a hole in my car (The one where the seatbelt receivers come out of) and I reached down there to get it. Tips To Feeding An Underweight TB?? Please Help!?

Before I bought my OTTB a few years ago (( 2006 )) he had been raced and abused. So when I got him he was very underweight. At the time I was at an eventing barn, and the owners liked their horses a little on the thin side, so he didn't gain much weight there. Then in summer of 07 we changed barns. He gained weight, and his overall condition improved greatly...until wintertime. Due to being in school, no indoor, and very short days, he lost some of his weight. (( even with blankets and added feed )) So this year he has been on a training schedule and he gained his weight and conditioning back. Of course something else had to go wrong; His like several other horses' dewormer stopped working. He then developed rain rot and lost most of his weight and conditioning. The rain rot is now gone and we're working on having him gain weight. We've tried everything from beet pulp to senior feed. He's feed twice a day, (( 4 flakes of hay, and he's had up to 8pounds of gain per feeding )) though he still hasn't gained much weight! Could he just be a very lightweight/small framed Thoroughbred?? Any help would be great, as winter is coming up! Thanks in advance :]

well, im junior in high school. I need help because for the past 4 years i keep getting answers i don't agree with or i just don't wanna hear and maybe they,re the truth. But christmas came and i was sent to texas to live with my grandparent for a bit, i would be coming back for sopre year. so this would be about 8 months. this was a big obstacle for us, but we wanted to stick it out so for about 4 months we did until we both decided it was to hard, then i spent the rest of the time single and both of us new i was coming back but never thought we'd get back together so we dated other ppl i dated 1 girl and messed with a couple of others but not while being with this other girl, I don't cheat anyways, she only dated one and of course he cheated on her. they broke up and then school came around and so did I. I saw her and we both were excited to see each other but had no intentions to get back..we were friend and from there followed benifits until we did it again and got back together. From then on things just skyrocketed, we lost our virginity's to each other which is a big deal for her because she wanted to save it for marriage but said she wanted her first time to be with me. She met my mother, my mom says shes one of a kind and that every time shes with me she seems so into me. shes met almost all the important ppl in the world to me and all of them thinks shes great. her mother which is really strict, even became fond of me her dad still hates our relationship, now we do everything together and love each other soo much. We fight a lot mostly because of me and my insecurities. she doesn't really even fight back because she feels like she deserves it even though she has repeatedly said sorry and told me shes ready to only be with me. Question about 'seed warts'?

I have a few, what they call 'seed warts'. Timy bumps here and there that are really loose on the skin, and my concern and question is that if one was accidentally removed, can I in fact bleed to death as if a mole was removed...or is it not as bad?
