Are vinyl window "stick-on" designs hazardous to one's health?

We have a skylight that allows a lot of light in. To block some of the light we applied a vinyl "stained gl" design stick-on. It just adheres like a static cling and can be removed if desired. In the hot sun I notice a smell of vinyl in the upstairs of the home, coming from the skylight stick-on. I would really like to take it down because the way I feel is; if I can smell it, that means it is in the air and entering our bodies through inhalation. My wife likes it and wants to keep it up. Any thoughts?
