Recent onset of pain with TMJ?

I have TMJ and up until a week or so ago I have just had the popping or clicking in my jaw but with no pain. Now I have the popping and clicking but with pain. I didn't do anything different or injure it in anyway to make it painful. Any suggestions on what to do? Do I see my doctor or my dentist?
