What is the best method of payment for a craigslist sale?

I am selling a car on craigslist, so I doubt the buyer showing up with $6,000 in cash is a reasonable or desirable option. What would be the most secure way to protect myself in receiving payment? I have heard stories of counterfeit cashiers checks and things like this...trying to avoid a problem.
