Wireless will only connect to local access?

Ive tried in comparison with several available wireless connections and until yesterday wireless worked fine. now it does not but it will connect to "local access only". advice anyone? sometimes I get a message when I run diagnostics that the computer cant connect with the remote host aka DNS something or other. Im not very educated on wireless ...
